Dear Catholic school families:
Bishop Joseph Kopacz and I conferred today regarding the recent executive order of Governor Reeves to close public schools across the state. We decided that it is in the best interest for the common good in our communities across the Diocese of Jackson that our Catholic Schools remain closed through April 17th . We will continue to monitor information regarding COVID-19, as well as, the recommendations and directives of national, state, and local government officials. You will be notified as additional decisions are made regarding our schools.
Administration and staff in each school across the Diocese have been working tirelessly this week to prepare for the implementation of online learning for our students. I take this opportunity to recognize and thank all of our school leaders and employees for their commitment to our mission. I appreciate all they have done and will continue to do to support and partner with you, our parents, as we broaden our delivery of Catholic education during this challenging time.
I pray for and look forward to the day when we can all return to our schools. In the meantime, please be assured of our ongoing efforts to stay connected to you and provide learning for your children. You can expect additional information from your Catholic School Principal and the Office of Education as we continue to navigate this distance learning environment amid this pandemic. Your continued support and prayers sustain us and are very much appreciated.
Have a good weekend. Stay safe and healthy.
God bless you,
Catherine D. Cook
